Robert B. Clelland


Bob Clelland has extensive experience as a consultant to pension plans, insurance companies, foundations and endowments. He has earned the Certified Investment Management AnalystSM (CIMA®) designation, recognized as the highest industry standard in consulting expertise.

Prior to joining Clelland & Company, he founded an institutional consulting firm based in San Francisco working with qualified pension plans, foundations, endowments, financial services institutions, and family trusts. In the 1980’s, Bob held the position of Senior Vice President with the SEI Corporation, a leading provider of institutional investment consulting and management services. At SEI, he was responsible for all investment consulting activities in the Western United States .

Bob is Director Emeritus of the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA), the national professional organization for the investment consulting industry. He served on the Board of Directors of IMCA for twelve years and was the organization’s President for two of those years. As a founder of the Consultant’s Performance Standards Task Force, he participated in the shaping of investment standards for the industry. Bob is a frequent speaker at industry meetings and conferences and is often quoted in national publications.

Bob is a past member of the Board of Governors of the San Diego Foundation and the past Chairman of the Foundation’s Investment Committee. He also serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Investment Consulting. He has been a Registered General Securities Principal (Series 24) and Registered Securities Representative (Series 7) and currently holds the Registered Investment Advisor Representative designation (Series 65).

Professional affiliations include: the Planned Giving Roundtable of San Diego, the National Committee on Planned Giving and the National Council on Foundations. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of the San Diego Regional Disaster Fund and member of the Board of Trustees of the San Diego Maritime Museum.

Bob received his Bachelor’s Degree in International Business Management from San Francisco State University and earned his Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) designation.

Rebecca A. Clelland

Client Service / Compliance Manager

Becky Clelland oversees the firm’s Client Services and compliance function. She is responsible for operations and client services activities with trust custodians and other vendors. She assures that the firm’s procedures and policies are in compliance with the Investment Advisory Act of 1940 and completes all state and national regulatory filings.

Becky is a Founding Member of the San Diego Women’s Foundation where she served on the Board of Governors as Treasurer. She is also active with the Senior Community Centers, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and Polinsky Children’s Center. She attended Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa.

Matthew D. Medeiros

Investment Analyst / Portfolio Manager

Matt Medeiros manages client services and is responsible for investment research and in developing and implementing client portfolio strategies. He also manages all trading and securities settlement activity. He assists in the development of asset allocation models, investment manager searches and portfolio performance monitoring and reporting systems.

Matt is a graduate of Trinity College with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematical Economics.  He has earned his Certified Private Wealth AdvisorSM (CPWA®) designation and holds the Registered Investment Advisor Representative designation (Series 65).

Hannah O'Loughlin, CFA

Investment Analyst

Hannah O’Loughlin is responsible for developing and implementing client portfolio strategies. She is responsible for the daily client activity including processing of client securities transactions and rebalancing activities. Her past experience includes working as a Financial Analyst intern for Madison Valuation Associates.

Hannah is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in Finance, Investment and Banking. She has earned her Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation and holds the Registered Investment Advisor Representative designation (Series 65).

Andrea Nowell

Client Services / Administration

Andrea Nowell provides our team with administrative and client service support. Prior to joining our firm, she was employed as a staff accountant for Lindsay & Brownell, CPA’s. She is responsible for business accounting functions, client billing, and maintains the company administrative procedures and research library.

Andrea holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from National University, San Diego.
